Nine Track Athletes Named to All-Academic Team

WACO, Texas - Nine Baylor track and field athletes were named to the 2008 Division I Women's All-Academic Individual Track and Field Team the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
Among the group are All-Americans Lauren Hagans (1,500m), Carla Grace (4x1, 4x4) and Brittany Bruce (4x1), and school record holders Danielle Bradley (steeplechase), Nichole Jones (800m), Brittany Devereaux (discus, hammer) and Kaleigh Teel (pole vault). Also included on the team are Lyndsy Bedell and Erin Bedell.
The women's track and field team finished in a tie for 15th place overall at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The team tied the second-highest finish in school history as the Lady Bears also took 15th in 2000.
