EUGENE, Ore. - Robert Griffin clocked 49.38 to finish 11th in the semifinals of the men's 400-meter hurdles on the second day of competition at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Griffin, who win Big 12 and Midwest Regional titles on his way to a third-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finished fifth in his semifinal heat, just 13 one-hundredths out of fourth place and an automatic pass to the event finals.
Angel Perkins qualified for the women's 400-meter hurdles finals on Sunday after running 56.08 in the semifinals to finish fourth in her heat. Perkins will compete in the event finals on Sunday at 4:02 p.m. looking for one of the top three positions to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Floyd Thompson failed to qualify for the finals of the men's 800 meters, running 1:51.17 to finish eighth in his heat.
Action continues on Sunday with Day Three of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. In action for Baylor will be Perkins in the 400-meter hurdles, as well as the quarterfinal heats of the men's and women's 400 meters.
