WACO, Texas - Even though it's only June, Baylor has welcomed all of its newcomers to the campus. With summer school underway, all seven of Baylor's newcomers have arrived and are midway through the first summer session. Freshmen Brianna Brown, Terran Condrey, Ashley Field, Lindsay Palmer, Cherrish Wallace and transfer Morghan Medlock arrived in Waco the end of May. Also hitting the books this summer is Whitney Zachariason who transferred from the University of Arkansas.
Since all seven are attending summer classes at Baylor, they can participate in the team's summer workouts.
Brianna Brown - Named first-team all-state after leading Hamilton HS to the 5A state quarterfinals ... Earned Fiesta Region Player of the Year honors ... Averaged 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.7 steals as a senior ... Has a 33.3-inch vertical leap ... Was listed No. 1 among high school basketball girls with a 80.77 Sparq rating that measures a player's strength, agility and athletics ... Named the team's MVP and Hamilton HS Female Athlete of the Year.
Terran Condrey - Led Eufaula HS to the Alabama 5A state championship with a 32-2 record ... First team all-state ... MVP of state tournament ... Named Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) 5A Player of the Year, garnering 15 of 16 first-place votes ... Also named a Super Five by the ASWA ... Averaged 22 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 8.1 assists as a senior ... Shot 56.7 percent from the floor and 83.8 percent from the foul line ...Named to the school's honor roll.
Ashley Field - Led the Marble Falls' Faith Academy Lady Flames to semifinals of state tournament ... Named TABC Small Private School Player of the Year ... TAPPS All-State selection ... First team All-Central Texas (Austin American Statesman) ... Selected for TABC All-Star Team ... Averaged 32.6 points, 12 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game as a senior ... Finished two-year career with a school-record 1,109 points and 447 rebounds ... Finalist for Texas Miss Basketball and earned Street and Smith All-America honorable mention ... Played two years at Burnet HS prior to transferring to Faith Academy (enrollment 80) .. Earned first-team District 25-4A honors in basketball, track and softball while competing for Burnet HS ... Won at least three events in state championship track meet all four years, taking gold medals in the discus twice, shot put and running legs on the 400-meter relay, 800 relay and 1,600 relay ... Broke state records in 2008 for discus (143 feet, 4 inches) and shot put (39-9).
Morghan Medlock - Transferred to Baylor after two seasons at USC ... Averaged 6.6 points and 5.5 rebounds a contest while playing 19.9 minutes a game in 2007-08 ... Started in 13 and played in 27 of the Trojans' 30 games, missing three due to injury ... Ranked second on the team in rebounding and blocked shots and led the team in scoring on three occasions and in rebounding nine times ... Registered three double-doubles on the season including a career-high 18 points and 13 rebounds against Arizona ... As a true freshman at USC, was the only rookie to appear in every game and started in seven ... Averaged 6.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest and was named Pac-10 All-Freshman honorable mention ... During her senior season at Harbor City's Narbonne High School, Medlock averaged 22 points, 15.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game ... Was named a 2006 McDonald's All-American and also garnered Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America kudos ... Led the Gauchos, whose school colors are green and gold, to two straight Los Angeles City Section titles .... Earned player of the year honors from several Los Angeles newspapers as both a junior and senior ... Competed in the Nike All-America Camp in 2003 and 2004.
Lindsay Palmer - Led Tulsa's Union HS to Class 6A state championship ... The Redskins finished the 2008 season with an unblemished 27-0 mark, thus becoming the only undefeated team in Oklahoma and only the second team to go undefeated and win a state championship ... Averaged 15.3 points, 6.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds per contest ... Tallied 1,827 points in her four-year prep career ... First team all-state, Miss Basketball All-American ... Class 6A State Tournament All-Tournament team ... Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA) All-State .... OGBCA Academic All-State ... Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State ... Frontier Conference MVP and Academic All-Conference ... Named to the Girls Super Five by The Oklahoman ... Was a two-year starter at Memorial HS prior to transferring to Union HS.
Cherrish Wallace - Three-year starter at Pasadena's John Muir HS ... Averaged 13.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.9 steals per game her senior season ... As a senior led the Mustangs to the regional sectionals where they lost in overtime by one point ... Region Co-MVP ... Pasadena News-Star Player of the Year ... Two-time Pacific League MVP ... Two-time first team all-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) selection ... Street & Smith's honorable mention.
Whitney Zachariason - Transferred to Baylor from Arkansas at the beginning of her freshman year ... Played in the Lady Razorback's two exhibition games in September in Canada before leaving the program prior to the regular season ... Earned Arkansas' Gatorade Girls' Basketball Player of the Year honors as a senior ... Enjoyed a successful high school basketball career during which she scored 2,922 points, hauled down 1,206 rebounds and led her Central Arkansas Christian (CAC) team to a 142-12 record ... Is CAC's career scoring leader ... Led the Mustangs to three state championships, spanning two divisions (two at AAA and one at AAAA) and was named MVP of all three state tournaments ... Earned numerous all-district, all-region and all-state honors throughout her prep career ... Averaged 25.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as a senior ... Named Ms. Basketball Arkansas in 2006 and `07 and earned first-team all-state honors as a sophomore, junior and senior ... Also earned three letters in volleyball and track and was voted Miss Central Arkansas Christian her senior season.
