A rarity is certainly unfolding when to put a dominant team or individual in the proper perspective one turns to the likes of Joe DiMaggio and his 56-game hitting streak or the Oklahoma football team's 47-game win streak.

Such is the case with the Baylor University 4x400 relay team, which has won 26 consecutive races entering the Big 12 Conference outdoor track and field championships this weekend at Potts Field.

The four men who each take a turn running once around the track for Baylor -- Justin Boyd, Trey Harts, LeJerald Betters and Quentin Iglehart-Summers -- often beat their opponents by a full second or more. They continue to build the program's reputation as "Quarter-Miler U" as they pursue their fourth consecutive national championship in the event.

That legend was earned over the course of the first 40 years of coach Clyde Hart's career at Baylor.
