Men's Tennis' Denes Lukacs Honored

IRVING, Texas - Baylor's Denes Lukacs has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches held April 14-20. The honor mark the first career accolade for Lukacs and the first for a Baylor player this season.

Lukacs, a sophomore from Eger, Hungary, won all three singles matches in straight sets on the week, leading the Bears to a share of their seventh straight Big 12 regular season title. The sophomore defeated the 37th-ranked Kellen Damico (Texas) 6-3, 6-2. In the sweep of Nebraska, he beat Calin Paar while only giving up one point (6-0, 6-1). Lukacs helped clinch the conference title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 85 Sinisa Markovic as Baylor defeated No. 16 Texas Tech on the final match of the regular season.

Lukacs owns the team's best season record with a 39-9 mark which ranks No. 3 on Baylor's single season victory list. He is 19-4 in dual match play and a perfect 6-0 in Big 12 Conference action. In addition, he is 21-13 in doubles on the season.
