WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team had a strong showing last weekend in the Texas Tornadoes Club Volleyball Tournament in Houston, Texas. The Bears will play one final spring tournament in Waco on April 26 at the McLane Student Life Center.

Baylor started out the tournament with a 2-0 sweep of SMU. The Bears also swept the Mustangs at Baylor's first spring tournament on March 29. Baylor defeated Army 2-1 before a 2-1 victory over Tulane, ranked in the top 25 for most of the 2007 season. In the Tulane match, the Bears came out strong in game three, earning a 15-4 deciding-game victory. Tulane rebounded from the Baylor loss with wins over Texas A&M and Southern California.

The Bears dropped its lone match of the weekend to New Mexico State, who ended the 2007 season ranked No. 21 in the nation according to the final AVCA poll. In that match, Baylor was edged 15-13 in the third game. New Mexico State went on to finish the tournament undefeated with a win over Texas.

"I am very proud of the way our girls played last weekend," said head coach Jim Barnes. "Anna Breyfogle, Katie Sanders and Taylor Barnes were our leaders all weekend and they are definitely becoming All-Big 12 caliber players."

Baylor returns to the court on April 26 in its final action of the spring season. The Bears will host a spring tournament at the McLane Student Life Center.
