UPCOMING MATCHES: The 18th-ranked Baylor men's tennis team, 14-7 on the season and defending Big 12 Conference champions, will open league play on Wednesday as it travels to College Station, Texas, to play the Texas A&M Aggies at 6 p.m. at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
BAYLOR VS. TEXAS A&M: The 21st-ranked Texas A&M Aggies enter the contest at 10-7 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 Conference action. In league play, the Aggies have played to three 4-3 decisions, defeating Oklahoma and losing to Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Conor Pollack is the Aggies' top-ranked player at No. 23. Pollack teams with Austin Krajicek to rank No. 41 in doubles we well.
SERIES RECORDS: Texas A&M holds a 30-13-1 series lead but the Bears are 10-5 under head coach Matt Knoll's direction. Baylor has won 10 of the last 11 matchups including two straight. Texas A&M's lone win during that time came on April 12, 2006, 4-3, in College Station.
BAYLOR IN BIG 12 CONFERENCE PLAY: Baylor's match at Texas A&M on Wednesday marks the beginning of the 12th season of Big 12 Conference competition. The Bears have won seven Big 12 Conference regular season titles, including six straight. In addition, Baylor has claimed the Big 12 Tournament title five times. Over the past six seasons, Baylor has posted a 40-1 league record. Under head coach Matt Knoll, the Bears are 71-12 (.855) in 11 seasons of Big 12 play.
TOP BEARS: After enjoying a very successful fall season, Denes Lukacs has continued to shine in dual match play. The sophomore owns the team's best singles record at 33-9 and is Baylor's highest-ranked player at No. 14. Senior Lars Poerschke sat out the fall portion of the season and is 13-4 on the season, including a 8-4 dual match record, all at No. 1. Sophomore Dominik Mueller owns the team's best dual match mark at 17-3 and is 26-8 overall.
Sophomore Attila Bucko currently owns the squad's top win streak each with seven in a row. Freshman Jordan Rux follows closely with a five-match win streak.
