NORMAN, Okla. - Two personal best performances highlighted Baylor's efforts at the Sooner Open on Saturday morning. The meet marked the Bears final tune-up efforts prior to the 2008 Big 12 Indoor Championships next weekend in Lincoln, Neb.
DeAna Carson ran 8.63 in the preliminaries of the women's 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the event finals with the fastest time. In the finals, Carson clocked a personal-best 8.49 to win the event.
Stasia Kelly-Taylor placed third in the women's triple jump with a personal-best jump of 12.29m (40-04).
Jeremy Jackson ran 8.25 in the men's 60-meter hurdles to record the Xth best time. Jackson recorded a time of 8.05 to win the event finals.
Tiffany Townsend and Brittany Carr finished second and third, respectively, in the women's 60 meters. Townsend ran 7.57 in the finals, while Carr also recorded a time of 7.57. Courtney Thomas clocked 6.81 in the men's 60 meters to place second overall.
Joseph Hawkins finished 14th in the men's 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.16.
Jeff Sadler placed third overall in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8:59.13.
The Bears return to action on Friday as the men's and women's teams travel to Lincoln, Neb. for the 2008 Bog 12 Indoor Championships.
