WACO, Texas - Baylor senior forward Mark Shepherd was named to the 2007-08 Winter Sports Good Works Team by the Big 12 Conference last week.

The award is in recognition of the community service efforts by Big 12 student-athletes, the Conference announces. Each member institution selected a student-athlete for recognition based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in a Big 12-sponsored sport.

For the second year, the Big 12 has announced a 12-person Good Works Team for the fall (cross country, football, soccer, volleyball) and winter (basketball, gymnastics, swimming & diving, wrestling), and will release a squad in the spring (baseball, golf, softball, tennis, track & field).

Shepherd is also a five-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree for academic achievement. The Fifth year senior walk-on is known for his scrappy play and averages 1.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game.
