Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey Opening Statment:
"I thought we were struggling on the offensive end more than the defensive end in the first half. When you let them off two days after the Stanford game, it's hard to get them back in the feel and the flow."
On Baylor's post play...
I just thought on the offensive end with the size we have, we never had a post presence. I don't care if they are in a zone or in a man; we have got to see your numbers. You have got to let us know you want the ball. You can't just do all this asking for a lob and all that... We never could get into a flow offensively."
On Baylor's guard play and turnovers:
"I was not pleased with anyone who handled the ball. I didn't think we played north-south... I thought we played east-west... I thought that turnovers were just disappointing to me. The turnovers were just careless; we just didn't have that tough grit about us when we turned the ball over."
On the emotional letdown coming off a big win and the team's next game at Rice:
"I think people think that, but I think as coaches you try to prevent that and prepare your team. As seniors you should certainly have been in situations like this before. It's just like going to Rice. Rice could be considered a trap game...You have got to go play and we have got to have leadership. We have got to have leadership from the older players. They have to set the example."
Post Danielle Wilson
On Baylor's defensive effort:
"Everything just starts off our defense. We get our offense from our defense. Coach Mulkey just wants us to work hard on defense in practice and our offense will just come to us. That is just a reflection of the coach and the coaching staff."
Guard Jhasmin Player On the preparation for Stephen F. Austin:
"What we tried to focus on was coming out ready to play. We conquered that, now that second half was a little tougher. We came here prepared to play; we held them to nine in the first half. We didn't do a lot better in the second half defensively."
Stephen F. Austin Head Coach Leann Riley
On why Baylor got off to a fast start:
"I think it was a lot them and a lot us. I thought we stood and I was disappointed in that. Baylor doesn't do anything fancy, but what they do they do very well. They are going to guard you half-court man, they are going to make you work. We stood where we were really easy to guard.... My kids did not execute like we should have, but give Baylor a ton of credit on that. You are not going to go one on one and get a good look."
On Baylor's size being a factor:
"We knew height wise we were at a disadvantage, but we still had to go inside. It made us so one-dimensional and we weren't aggressive. And I don't care if Danielle Wilson blocked 10 of our shots, we needed to try and attack the basket and we settled for jump shots... Off-balanced jump shots."
