WACO, Texas (AP) - LaceDarius Dunn scored eight consecutive points to start an early 16-0 run that put Baylor firmly in control on the way to a 90-55 victory over Centenary on Tuesday.
Dunn's fastbreak jumper broke a 5-5 tie and he followed with 3-pointers on Baylor's next two possessions, after turnovers by Centenary (0-2). By the time Curtis Jerrells made a layup seven minutes into the game, the Bears already had a 21-5 lead.
Jerrells had 20 points and five assists for Baylor (2-0). Dunn finished with 18 points, 15 by halftime when the Bears led 42-20. Freshman Quincy Acy added 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting from field in 21 minutes. Acy has now made his first 13 field goals of his collegiate career. Henry Dugat and Kevin Rogers chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Centenary never got closer than 20 after halftime. Chase Adams had 12 points for the Gents. Daman Starring added nine points and five rebounds.
As a team, Baylor shot 64 percent from the floor and drained 8-of-17 field goals from three-point range.
Baylor returns to the court Saturday when the Bears host the Southern Jaguars for a 1 p.m. tip at the Ferrell Center.
