IRVING, Texas - Baylor senior forward/post Rachel Allison was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The 6-1 Jonesboro, Ark., native was honored for the second time in her career. Texas A&M's Tyra White was named the league's Freshman of the Week.
Allison averaged 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in leading Baylor to wins over No. 2 Stanford and Florida Atlantic. She produced a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds against FAU while going 8-of-16 from the floor and dishing out two assists in 27 minutes of play.
Against Stanford, the senior forward/post led all players with 25 points, 20 of which came in the first half. She was 9-for-16 from the floor including hitting 4-of-6 from 3-point range. In addition, she hauled down eight rebounds and had a block and a steal.
For the week, Allison shot 53.1 percent from the field including 50 percent (5-10) from the 3-point line.
Allison and her teammates return to action on Friday, Nov. 21 when they host Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m. The Lady Bears will make their first road trip as they travel to Houston to take on the Rice Owls on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
