Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey

Opening statement:

"I thought for a November basketball game, it was not as sloppy as early games can be. There was not a lot of fouling like early games can have. I thought Rachel Allison set the tone for us early in the game and everybody else gained confidence from [her play]. I thought rebounding would be a key going in, and I thought it was a big deciding factor."

On Danielle Wilson:

"Danielle is the most improved player that we have. Her confidence is at an all-time high. There is not anything that Danielle doesn't think she can do right now on the floor. She has just grown up a lot this season. I hate that she picks up her third foul late in the second half, but her fouls are meaningful fouls. She means to do it."

On the motivating factors prior to the game:

"You would have to ask the players because I didn't do a whole lot of pep talks, speeches and things like that. I just told them that it was a basketball game that you can win and that this was an opportunity to win a basketball against a very good team, let's go out there and expect to win."

On the importance of the win:

"It allows us to gain confidence. It allows us to know that we can compete with teams across the country. It allows us to take a day off tomorrow and get ready for the next opponent. We will enjoy the victory just for a short period of time, and then we will go back to work."

Post Rachel Allison

On defeating Stanford after the road loss last season:

"Well last year it just hurt. We had a solid five last year with everyone [scoring] in double figures for most of the season, then going up there and having that kind of loss hurt our hearts. I think it was good that we had so many returnees coming back that knew what that felt like. I think we just played off of emotion today."

Post Danielle Wilson

On preparation for Stanford during practice:

"The coaches got me ready during the week and just said `I can just play big, keep my hands up and not get tic-tac fouls.' If I did foul, they needed to be meaningful."

Guard Jhasmin Player

On the importance of getting the win:

"It is great today, but it is the second game of the season. We are going to enjoy it on our day off tomorrow, but come Wednesday, it is all back to business and there is a long season ahead of us. We got it handed to us at Stanford last year, but Baylor is one of the toughest places to play in the country. It is tough to come in here and win, and we have to protect our floor. We did that tonight."

Stanford Head Coach Tara VanDerveer

Opening statement:

"I thought that Baylor came out and played very inspired basketball, and obviously, Rachel Allison had a great game for them. She wasn't the only person, but she really led the way. I really admire how hard she plays, and she really did a lot of great things for them. She has really improved since last year on hitting her three point shot. I was very disappointed in our team defensively. I thought we fouled too much and just not being aggressive. Also, I'm really disappointed with our inside game. We need to do a better job of finishing inside."

On the crowd being a factor:

"I don't think the crowd was as negative a factor for us as a positive factor for them. They have a great crowd and a great tradition of supporting women's basketball, which is to be commended. Kim works very hard and they have some great players. It's great that the women are being appreciated by their fans."

On the significance of two ranked teams playing each other:

"I think for our team it was a wake up call and a really good experience to play a good team on the road in front of a very loud and supportive crowd."

Guard Jeanette Pohlen

On Baylor's defense:

"Like Coach said, they were getting a lot of deflections, and inside, they were really aggressive. As guards, we needed more ball fakes, and as posts, we needed more ball fakes. They were just getting their hands on a lot of them."

On momentum going into halftime:

"To finish the first half, we definitely had a run going, and I felt like we had momentum. I was pretty excited about it. Coming out the second half, Baylor came out just as hard and took it to us."
