WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend as the Lady Bears travel to compete in the Midland Invitational.
Kasia Siwosz, the 2007 and 2008 top-ranked junior college player, will make her Baylor debut in singles action this weekend. Siwosz won the NJCAA Singles Championship as a freshman at Cowley College without dropping a single set during the year. She also claimed the doubles title as a freshman. As a sophomore, Siwosz advanced to the NJCAA Singles Championships, before suffering her only collegiate loss in the finals.
Also schedule to compete is junior Zuzana Chmelarova. As a sophomore in 2007-08, Chmelarova recorded a 19-13 overall record, including a 12-2 mark in dual matches and a 9-1 record in Big 12 action.
Karolina Filipiak will be back in action after competing in the ITA/Riviera All-American last week. Filipiak defeated Elizabeth Carpenter of Wisconsin in straight sets before falling to Pichitta Thongdach in Pre-Qualifying Draw action.
