FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Trey Harts was the top collegiate runner in the 200 meters, and Tiffany Townsend set a provisional qualifying mark in the 200 meters on the first day of competition at the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Harts, who set the nation-leading time of 21.21 two weeks ago at the Arkansas Invitational, finished third overall with a time of 21.26, just behind a pair of professional runners. Courtney Thomas finished seventh overall, the fourth collegiate runner, in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 21.46 to finish second in his heat.

Townsend, a high school All-American, set a provisional time of 23.65 in the 200 meters to win her heat and finish fourth overall. The provisional time is the second for the Lady Bears this season as Lauren Hagans provisionally qualified in the 800 meters two weeks ago with a time of 2:08.69. Carla Grace took sixth overall, just missing a provisional qualifying time at 24.09. Brittany Carr (24.61) and Mardavia Lynch (25.81) finished 18th and 51st, respectively.

Adrian Edmonds finished fifth in the men's shot put with a season-best mark of 14.61m (47-11 ¼), an eight-inch improvement from Baylor's last meet. Laszlo Vandracsek finished ninth with a toss of 10.41m (34-02).

Brittany Devereaux finished second overall in the women's weight throw with a mark of 17.15m (56-03 ¼), three feet better than her throw at the Arkansas Invitational.

Joe Farley placed 20th in the men's pole vault at 4.65m (15-03), while Erik Vance finished in 21st with a personal-best clearance of 4.50m (14-09).

DeAna Carson qualified for the event finals in the women's long jump, and finished fifth overall with a leap of 5.90m (19-04 ¼), just three inches off her personal best. Jessica Gregory finished 24th with a mark of 4.91m (16-01 ½).

Whitney Prevost needed just one jump to place 10th in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.19m (23-07 ¼). Antareis Bryan placed 23rd overall with a leap of 6.64m (21-09 ½).

Baylor returns to action on Friday morning with the second day of the Razorback Invitational. Running events begin at 10 a.m. and field events start at 2 p.m.
