BAYLOR 72-NEBRASKA 70
Baylor Coach Scott Drew Quotes
Jan. 19, 2008
On getting Baylor's first Big 12 road win since 2004
"(The game) was hard fought just like every Big 12 game on the road is going to be. Nebraska really has a great environment here, and I think they were the aggressor in the first half. They played harder than us and brought it to us. In the second half I thought that we played much harder, and there was good consistent officiating which really helped us. When we started driving we got some calls. That gave us a chance to get to the free throw line where we went 22-of-26."
On having 21 turnovers as a team
"Twenty one turnovers just blows my mind. When you can have 21 turnovers and win the game, you're doing a lot of good things defensively. Holding them to 38 percent shooting, out-rebounding them by eight. I thought that was huge, and then we shot well from the free throw line and they struggled. True to form, besides (Aleks) Maric had a great night, they didn't shoot real well from the line. If they would of, that would of hurt because they went to the line 34 times."
On the defensive effort against Maric
"I think Josh (Lomers) and Mamadou (Diene) did a great job. Shepherd did a great job when he was in there and Maric is one of the best if not the best big men in the conference. He has gotten better and better every year. I thought Kevin Rogers provided us a lift. He ended up with a double-double, 13 points and 14 rebounds. The five offensive rebounds were huge because we got second chance points and in the first half we didn't. That was huge in the second half."
On Kevin Rogers staying out of foul trouble
"Yeah, maybe he is getting better at that because we are going to need him on the floor. He did a very good job, especially in the second half."
