CANCUN, Mexico -
Junior Henry Dugat scored 25 points to lead Baylor to a 115-47 win over Belize Tuff E Nuff Saturday in the sweltering heat of the non-air conditioned Kuchil-Baxal Gymnasium in Cancun, Mexico. The game was the first of the Bears' two-game foreign tour this weekend.
Baylor put the game away early by blazing to a 19-2 lead six minutes into the contest. Junior forward Kevin Rogers scored eight of his 19 points during the game-opening run. The Bears led 42-11 at the end of the first quarter and 62-23 at the half.
"You always feel good after your players have a chance to see that their hard work has paid off," head coach Scott Drew said. "Hopefully this will give us the confidence to work hard and make this trip the best it can be."
Dugat shot 8-for-11 from the field and added three steals and two blocks. Senior Mark Shepherd finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Junior Curtis Jerrells added 12 points and four steals for the Bears.
Baylor faces Cancun's hometown professional club Quintana Roo Pioneros Sunday at 8 p.m. CDT to wrap up its tour. The Pioneros, who play in Mexico's Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP), lost two games to Auburn in August and played Arkansas in a late game Saturday at Kuchil-Baxal Gymnasium.
