Guy Morris - Head Coach

Playing TCU:

"It is going to be a challenge for us. We're excited about the opportunity; I think it will be a good measuring stick for us to find out where we are."

Preparing for TCU:

"I am not so worried about what they are doing over there at TCU because as far as I'm concerned if we can take care of our business we can control what goes on here and we will be fine."

When your going to name the new QB:

"We don't have any kind of timetable. I think us as coaches would like to see it settled on the field between the two kids. If that doesn't happen we will have to name somebody but we're going to give them a chance to compete this week and see if one of them will emerge. I don't see any reason to push it or hurry it or announce it so we will let it take care of itself."

Characteristic you are looking for to pick the starter:

"Consistency, we are looking right now for the guy who can be consistent day in and day out."

Getting the job done:

"We want to try and put our best kids on the field in every position every time we step out there, and if one of them is not getting it done then we need to find someone who can."

Game situations:

"You can practice it until your blue in the face and you can put them in situations where you pressure them as much as you can, it just all comes down to who you can trust and who you can count on to execute. But until we get out there and find out who can do it under the light we really don't know."

Larry Hoefer - Defensive Coordinator

"We lost a lot of good players from last year, we had six seniors that were playing the defensive line and three corners, but we have some good young players and have a good feel from our defense this year"

Difference between coaching and coordinating:

"It hasn't changed a whole lot you just get to make some final decisions. You need to coach what you know."

TCU's Offense

"The tempo of TCU's game is pretty fast and so we will make adjustments to that"

How do you prepare for a QB who has never played a college game:

"I don't think they are going to change their offense a whole lot, so we are preparing for their offense. Their quarterback's high school offense is a lot like their own and their new quarterback is known to be a good decision maker so we will prepare accordingly."

Lee Hays - Offensive Coordinator

Rushing Game:

"We are trying to improve the rushing game, we've worked on it really hard since the spring."

How is the QB situation:

"Good because we've got a couple of them. I like having a clear cut guy but I like having one if the other goes down. You just wish one would separate and make the decision easy but I guess that's why the call me the O.C. and I have to make the choice."

Following in Shawn's footsteps:

"The two young ones have done a great job at that. You're just worried about lack of experience. Tyler has kind of jumped out of nowhere and is making a run at it"

Advantage of having two QB's so close:

"The number one advantage is if I lose one of them we'll have one ready to go. The problem though is I really don't like splitting reps; I'd rather be 70/30 and limit the back up's game plan and not throw the whole offense at him. That is kind of where we are at right now; we have got to try and make some decisions and hopefully they will make it easy for me the next couple of practices."

How is the health of the offense:

"We kind of got lucky because all our little bangs happened early so we got them all back with an exception of Boatner and I think he is about two weeks away."

Group as a whole:

"Last year I don't think we had the depth that we would have liked, and this year I don't think that's an issue. We are kind of three deep the one and two's on each side with the X's and the Z's is kind of like the QB situation-one will have a great day and then the other will have one so that has been really good. The offensive line has come a long ways since last spring, they aren't thinking about it they are just reacting and that is kind of where we need to be to be successful"

On Brandon Whitaker:

"He has been a big, big surprise for me as far as I had a lot of concern in the spring of him getting north and south and coach Jackson has worked a lot with him and he is now a guy that I am expecting to have a big year."

TCU Defense:

"They run 4-2-5 defense and I hate that defense. It is going to be a game were we have to go out and protect the football first and foremost and try to put our defense in a good position."

#41 Joe Pawelek (LB)

Last year against TCU: TCU 17, Baylor 7

"Bottom line is we didn't get it done and that is what we are really focusing on this year to go up there and keep our focus on finishing the game."

Going for the win:

"You're not there until you start winning and so that is what were after"

Concerns against TCU:

"We've just really got to focus on our communication on the field."

#12 Tyler Beatty (QB)

Approaching the QB position not knowing who will start:

"I'm going to approach it the same way every time; right now in my head I'm the starter so I am going to take it as I'm the starter, I'm the quarterback of the Baylor Bears and that I need to keep firing on all cylinders and doing all that I can to make myself better every day and every down that I take."

"Coach always says your always one play away."

On TCU's Defense

"They have great players on defense and you just have to go to their weaknesses."

Offensive Huddle

"There's a team motto that we have and that is everyone in the circle is a 100% sure of what we are going to do and everyone outside doesn't know and all these outside pressures are going to try and break us down but we aren't going to let that happen."

#2 Brandon Whitaker (RB)

Being captain for offense:

"It is a great honor being the only fifth year senior on the squad it is just one of those things that you look forward to and I am happy that my teammates put that much faith in me."

Last Years Rushing:

"I take it personally you know we were ranked last nationally in rushing last year, its kind of embarrassing so this year we emphasize the running game a lot more."

Who would you rather catch passes from in a game:

"It doesn't matter. I feel comfortable with both quarterbacks back there."

Last year's TCU game effects on this year:

"They have been talking a lot of noise about how they should be in the Big 12 and so we are just going to go down there and prove to them that they shouldn't."

How important is the first win for you to get the ball rolling:

"It's always important the first win and TCU just happens to be the team this year. If it were anyone else it wouldn't matter we would go into it the same."

How comfortable do you feel this year in the system:

"I feel real comfortable we've got a great coaching staff this year. Things are a little different around here the aura around the team is just a lot different we feel real comfortable.
