BUFFALO, N.Y. - Baylor won the first two games, but couldn't hang on as Stony Brook rallied for the 3-2 (21-30, 34-36, 30-25, 30-26, 15-13) win at the University at Buffalo Classic on Saturday night.

The Bears finished second at the tournament, behind tournament champion North Carolina. Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) and Taylor Barnes (Arlington, Texas) were each named to the all-tournament team.

Baylor (2-1) got out quickly taking game one, then battled back to win a marathon game two, but Stony Brook relied on its top guns on the outside to win three straight games to take the match.

Jackie Ahlers led all players with 27 kills, while teammate Morgan Sweany added 23 kills for the Seawolves. Noelle Bay recorded 22 digs, and Nazli Dikecligil tallied 18 digs.

"We just didn't prepare like we needed to tonight," said head coach Jim Barnes. "You have to give credit to Stony Brook. Even when they were trailing 2-0, they never stopped working."

Sanders led Baylor as she tied her career high with 21 kills. Sanders also recorded her third-straight double-doubles as she tallied 14 digs.

"Katie had another good game, but I think that she ran out of gas toward the end of the match," said Barnes. "In the future she will have to keep herself in the game. She knows that we are going to set her a lot of balls, so she has to be ready for that."

Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) tied her career high with 20 kills, and hit .447 (20-3-38) for the match. She also added eight total blocks (two solo). Ashlie Christenson (Cleburne, Texas) reached double-figures in kills for the second-straight match as she set a new career high with 11 kills.

"I thought Anna really got into a flow this match," said Barnes. "We kept going to her in the last couple of games, and I thought that she hit great."

Sarah Grace (Houston, Texas) led the Baylor defense with a career-high 27 digs. Kristen Schramek (San Antonio, Texas) recorded 13 digs on the match.

"Sarah played an amazing match tonight," said Barnes. "To get 27 digs as a freshman in her first match as a libero is pretty incredible. Before she is finished here she will have a chance to be one of the top liberos in the nation."

Baylor returns to action on Tuesday as the Bears play host to Texas State in their home opener. First serve will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
