The Kentucky native averaged 9.32 assists per set with the Golden Eagles
WACO, Texas – Baylor bolstered a talented roster of returners with the addition of reigning co-Big East Freshman of the Year, Isabela Haggard, on Tuesday.
The Lexington, Kentucky, native played one season in Milwaukee, making an immediate impact for the Golden Eagles, averaging 9.32 assists per set, solidifying a spot on the All-Big East and All-Big East Freshman teams, in addition to her Freshman of the Year nod. She coordinated an offense that hit .257 in conference play, second-best in the league.
A Big East Setter of the Week in September, Haggard established herself on the defensive end as well, averaging 2.40 digs per set en route to 11 double-doubles, highlighted by a career-high 22 at DePaul.
As a team, Marquette finished the year at 18-11, boasting an 11-5 mark in league play and earning the No. 4 seed in the Big East Tournament. An at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament, Haggard and the Golden Eagles pushed No. 2 seed Louisville to five sets in its own gym, before the Cardinals prevailed en route to a seventh-straight Sweet Sixteen.
Prior to her time in Milwaukee, she had a stellar prep career at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was a four-time team captain under head coach Jennifer Morgan. A three-time all-state honoree and back-to-back district MVP in 2023 and 2024, Haggard helped lead Dunbar to four district titles, regional championships in 2022 and 2023 and a state runner-up finish in 2022, while amassing more than 3,000 assists in her career.
She also excelled on the club circuit with KIVA, highlighted by a 2023 AAU 16 Open National Championship and multiple regional titles. A standout multi-sport athlete, Haggard is a state champion long jumper and accomplished gymnast, bringing elite athleticism and versatility to the Bears.
