LINCOLN, Neb. - Kim Brown stands in 13th place after four events in the women's heptathlon after Day One at the 2007 Big 12 Outdoor Championships held at Ed Weir Stadium.
Brown (Waco, Texas) ended the first half of the competition with 2,122 points. She got off to a good start with a fourth place finish of 14.55 in the 100-meter hurdles to earn 902 points. Brown then failed on all three attempts at her opening height in the high jump and did not score.
Brown then battled back from fouls on her first two attempts in the shot put with a throw of 8.74m (28-08.25) to earn 447 points. In the final event of the afternoon, Brown took ninth place in the 200 meters, clocking 26.28 to earn 773 points.
Junior Brittany Devereaux (Denton, Texas) took 15th place in the women's discus throw with a best toss of 43.94m (144-02) in her first action in over a month due to a fractured finger.
Senior Jacob Jones () finished in 17th place in the men's 10,000 meters with a season-best time of 31.54.95, one minute off the winning time.
Baylor returns to action on Saturday with Day Two at the 2007 Big 12 Outdoor Championships.
