Coach Guy Morriss' Baylor football team completed the second week of spring practice with a two hour workout Saturday morning on the Floyd Casey Stadium turf.

"Overall, it was a good day of work," said Morriss. "Offensively, we were a little inconsistent. We have a lot of guys in the training room right now and that's hurting us.

"But, I thought up front we were better, and in spurts, every group was better," he added. "Our lack of depth is catching up with us. We have two wide outs with Baker (Mikail) and Tesley (Queito) and everyone else is in the training room. But, overall it wasn't bad."

Sophomore wide receiver Ernest Smith sustained a head injury during Saturday's practice and was held out of the remaining drills as a percaution while junior wide receiver Thomas White continues to recover from an illness. In addition, sophomore wide receiver David Gettis is competing with the Baylor track and field team this weekend at Palo Alto, Calif.

"Your consistency (at wide receiver) and execution just isn't going to be there when you are plugging in some guys who haven't got a lot of reps," Morriss said.

One bright spot Saturday morning was the return of assistant coach Gary Kinne to the field. Kinne has missed the Bears first seven spring workouts and officialy returns to work Monday for the first time since undergoing surgery in February.

"Gary's (Kinne) in good shape and the doctors have released him to come back to work on Monday, so we'll see him out here the rest of the spring," Morriss said. "It is good to see him walking the field. The kids are excited about having him back. So, that's a plus."

Baylor will workout on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday next week before breaking for the Easter holiday weekend. The Bears' annual Green & Gold Spring Game is set for April 14 at 1 p.m. in Floyd Casey Stadium.
