WACO, Texas -- For 80 years, people in the Baylor University family and beyond have talked of "The Immortal Ten."
The tragedy is well known, despite the grand passage of time. Ten men were killed when a bus taking the Baylor men's basketball team to a game in Austin was hit by a train in Round Rock. The story is told every year by candlelight at Baylor's Freshman Mass Meeting the Wednesday of homecoming week.
But those are mere words.
Now, more than three-quarters of a century after that day -- Jan. 22, 1927 -- noted area artist Bruce Greene and Baylor are preparing to immortalize the immortal.
