Winning eight games was a minor miracle, considering the loss of star Lawrence Roberts, who transferred to Mississippi State, and eligibility issues which idled Harvey Thomas and tri-captains Terrance Thomas and R.T. Guinn for anywhere from three to eight games.
Baylor's manpower problems were aggravated by the departure of starter Carl Marshall and key reserve Corey Herring, plus the dismissal of Ellis Kidd.
