TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore Denes Lukacs played two close matches on Thursday at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center before being eliminated in the round of 32 of the tournament's main draw.

After winning two tiebreakers on Wednesday to advance to the tournament's main draw, the Baylor sophomore took on ninth-ranked Ryan Rowe of Illinois. Lukacs, ranked No. 78, eliminated Rowe 7-6(6) and 6-4 to win another close one.

Next up for Lukacs was 111th-ranked Alex Clayton of Stanford who, like Lukacs, advanced to the main draw through the qualifying bracket. Clayton upset 18th-ranked Robbye Poole of Mississippi in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to face Lukacs. After winning the first set 7-5, Lukacs dropped the next two, 6-4, 6-4, and bowed out of the tournament.

The men's tennis team will take the upcoming weekend off before returning to action October 13-15 when the squad will split and compete in two different tournaments. Lukacs, Matt Brown, Dominik Mueller and Jordan Rux will travel to Lexington, Ky., where they will compete in the Charles Fluitt Invitational, while David Galic and Attila Bucko will play in the Midland Invitational during that time.
