Baylor returns home on Wednesday night as the Bears play host to Kansas at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears are coming off a 3-0 win at Texas Tech on Saturday, stretching their current winning streak to four matches. After recording two come-from-behind five-game wins over Kansas and Colorado, Baylor swept two road matches at TCU and at Texas Tech.
The sweep against Texas Tech is the first sweep in Big 12 action for Baylor since a 3-0 win over Kansas in Waco last season. It marks the first road sweep in league play for the Bears since a 3-0 win against Oklahoma in Norman during the 2001 season. The two consecutive sweeps are the first for Baylor since recording five-straight 3-0 victories last season. It is the first time the Bears have earned consecutive sweeps involving at least one Big 12 opponent since 2001 when Baylor swept Texas State and Iowa State in back-to-back matches. Baylor also recorded sweeps in consecutive road matches for the first time since 1993, when the Bears earned 3-0 victories at UT-San Antonio and at Rice.
Baylor only placed two players in double-figure kills against Texas Tech, as Katie Sanders tallied 15 kills and Ashlie Christenson added 11 kills. The Bears played outstanding net defense, recording 14 team blocks, including a career-high nine from Haley Thomas and eight by Anna Breyfogle.
The 14 team blocks are the most in a three-game match for Baylor this season, and is the highest total since the Bears tallied 14 blocks against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2004.
Kansas enters the contest on a five-match losing streak following a 3-2 loss at home to Missouri on Saturday. The Jayhawks' only win in the last nine matches was a 3-1 victory at home over Colorado. Emily Brown, a back-row setter and front-row outside hitter, has tallied six triple-doubles this season, including one against Baylor in the teams' first meeting.
