Baylor's Big 12 Conference struggles continued on Friday as the women's soccer team dropped its fourth straight match, 3-2, to Colorado, falling to 6-6-2 on the season.

The Bears fell behind late in the first half when Colorado's Amber Bettenhausen scored her first goal of the season on a ball that was deflected around Baylor netminder Gianna Quintana to put the Buffaloes ahead 1-0.

Sophomore Betsy Kyle quickly responded with her first goal of the season to even things up just before the break. After a Lauren Weathers pass was blocked by a Colorado defender, Kyle picked the ball up in the middle of the 18-yard box to net her first goal of the season.

"We were in the game the entire time," said head coach George Van Linder. "We battle back from being down, but just couldn't hold them off in the end. It's a disappointing loss for this team; we thought this should have been a win."

Baylor's Katie White also pocketed her first goal of the season. White scored at the 78:14 mark to give the Bears their only lead of the contest. Exactly two minutes later the Buffaloes' Nikki Marshall scored her seventh goal of the season for the game's second tie.

Colorado took the lead for good in the 84th minute when Gianna DeSaverio scored on a cross from Marshall that was put back to center by Alex Cousins.

The Bears played without All-American goalkeeper Ashley Noah and freshman midfielder Lotto Smith, both suffered minor injuries during last weekend's contests between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

"The positive for our team was that they were able to play their hearts out in this match and be in it to the end despite all the injuries we've had," Van Linder said. "In the end, we still needed a win tonight and just couldn't hold them off late."

Baylor will return to action in a rare Sunday night contest against No. 4 Texas. The Longhorns are ranked first in the most recent Soccer America poll and are coming off a 2-0 loss to No. 5 Texas A&M on Friday. Sunday's match is schedule to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field and can be heard on the All-Access portion of BaylorBears.com with Heath Nielsen and Justin Stottlemyre.
