Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew:
On the game:
"The positive side is we won and we did some things we need to do going in to Big 12 play. When you don't shoot well, you have got to be able to get some offensive rebounds, and 18 offensive rebounds is huge for our team. And that's something that was very impressive. We also had some great performances. Tweety [Carter] gave us a great lift. Tim Bush in the first half I thought carried us at times. Josh Lomers' second half was a difference maker. And Curtis Jerrells had a great line as far as 14 points, 8 assists, seven rebounds. You're always going to have one or two nights like this where you feel like you're playing in mud and nobody's into it. And if you can get through those nights with a win, you're happy at the end of the year. If we wouldn't have had that offensive rebounding, we probably wouldn't have gotten the win. So, that shows that we've gotten better in that area."
On Josh Lomers:
"Josh was huge. He really changed the complexion of the game. They didn't really have an answer for him. And Josh compared to now and Josh at the beginning of the year, Josh at the beginning of the year, Josh would have been 2-for-2 from the field and maybe 2-for-6 from the free throw line. Now he's 5-for-6. It's one thing to get the ball inside, it's another thing to actually score. Josh did a great job tonight."
On turnovers:
"The good thing is we get tomorrow to practice. We'll continue to work on a couple of things, and this makes my decision very easy on what we're going to do tomorrow and how hard we're going to go tomorrow...When you have inexperience, sometimes you put yourself in bad situations. A couple of our young guys did that tonight."
On the two children sitting Baylor's bench tonight:
"One thing I think we overlook in coaching and in the sports world is just what positive role models and influences you can have your team be. One great story is on New Years eve, Aaron Bruce was with Coach Driscoll at a restaurant, and one of the families, the Bailey family; one of their family members is in the hospital suffering from cancer, and it's a real tough time over the holidays. And they thought it would be really neat if their boys could sit and talk with Aaron a little bit. Two hours later after a lot of fun and a lot of laughter, it really was a great cure and made for a happy new years. We invited them back for the game tonight. I think we take that for granted a lot at Baylor. And what I mean by that is that there are a lot of situations where you might not want your five or ten-year-old son or daughter sitting next to some players and learning some language and things that they probably shouldn't learn. But the fact that we have not only good athletes, but also good role models I think says a lot."
Baylor Center Josh Lomers:
"We were boxing out, and making sure we had a clear lane, so someone can go up and get it. We were working hard."
"We were a little bit bigger then them and we used them on both boards and down low, so it was fun."
Baylor Guard Tweety Carter:
"I'm on the bench, and I look at everything, I just wanted to come out and give my team a spark, we were struggling in the first half with turnovers, but in the locker room at half time, Coach Drew got on us, so we tried to come out in the second half and limit the turnovers."
"We've got to give credit to the big guys, they rebound, they block shots, and they freed me up, and I just want to give all the thanks to them."
Baylor Forward Tim Bush
"I'm definatly proud of Josh Lomers, as big men we definitely have a certain relationship we bank together and we defiantly push each other, we continue to get better."
"Tweety doesn't play outside his game, he knows he has to get guys the ball, you give him a split second he is going to knock the shot, he makes the best of his game."
