WACO, Texas - Baylor's tennis programs landed nine student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason polls sponsored by Fila. The rankings include the nation's top 125 singles players and 60 doubles teams for both men's and women's tennis.
Baylor's men's team boasts six players included in the rankings, five in singles and one doubles team. Junior Lars Poerschke topped the singles chart for the Bears at No. 4 while veteran teammates senior Michal Kokta and sophomore Matt Brown earned spots at No. 23 and No. 82 respectively. Freshman Bears to make the rankings include No. 110 Denes Lukacs and No. 121 Dominik Mueller. In the doubles, Kokta and sophomore teammate David Galic start the fall ranked No. 24.
The women's team tallied three singles selections and one doubles team in the rankings. Junior Zuzana Zemenova shares this fall's highest ranking with Poerschke at No. 4. Senior Zuzana Cerna earned a No. 14 ranking while senior Klara Zrustova ranks No. 73. Cerna and Zrustova were also selected as the No. 14 doubles team.
