Hello Baylor Fans,
Well let me begin with saying the Seattle trip was a really great experience. It was neat to see the green and gold corner in the Seahawks' stadium. As for the game, we really let this one slip out of our hands. Washington State has a very talented football team, but we had every chance to win the game. Our defense played another exceptional football game and created a number of big turnovers including a fumble for a touchdown. Offensively, we executed at times, but we didn't put the points on the board we needed. As an offense, we have got to limit the interceptions, penalties, and other mistakes that are killing drives. The plays are there, but we are all not executing when needed.
As the quarterback, I take full responsibility for the lack of success this past weekend. Coach Hays continues to provide us with game plans to put us in the position to make plays, but we as players are not executing. This is something that the players on offense are taking upon ourselves to improve and I feel very confident that we will.
Unfortunately, right now we are 1-2. Although we could look back and say we should have done this or we could have done that, we have decided to move on and focus all of our efforts to getting better and beating Army. We have nine more opportunities to win football games and we still feel as though this is going to be a very successful season.
Army has really improved since our trip up to West Point last fall and we know we really have to be ready this Saturday. They are a disciplined ball club that plays exceptionally hard. We feel as though we have a great opportunity this weekend and we are looking forward to playing in Floyd Casey for these next two games.
As I stated earlier, we all still feel this is going to be a successful season and it all starts with a win this weekend against Army. I hope that you as fans continue your support and keep believing in us because we will bounce back.
I hope to see all of you in Floyd Casey this Saturday as we get this season back on the right track.
