BAYLOR SOCCER TRAVELS TO PLAY IN BIG 12-BIG TEN CHALLENGE

WACO, Texas - The Baylor soccer team will return to action this week as the Bears travel to Indiana for a pair of games in the Big 12-Big Ten Conference Challenge. Baylor will take on Indiana on Friday, Sept. 1, at 6:00 p.m. in Lawrence, Ind., before traveling to West Lafayette, Ind., to face Purdue on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 12:00 p.m.

"We are looking forward to taking on a pair of challenging opponents this weekend," head coach George Van Linder said. "It should be a pair of quality matches and we will have to play our best in order to come away with two victories."

Baylor is coming into the weekend after splitting its first two games of the season. The Bears defeated Northwestern State, 1-0, in the home opener before traveling to face Houston and falling to the Cougars, 2-0. Missy McConnell scored Baylor's lone goal on the weekend as the senior recorded the first game-winning goal of her career.

Indiana enters the weekend with a record of 0-2 after a pair of tough-luck losses last week. The Hossiers dropped a one-goal contest to No. 10 Cal, 1-0, before falling to Creighton, 2-1, in the final game of the weekend. The Hoosiers, picked to finish ninth in the Big Ten Conference, are led by forward Kristin Radcliffe, the leading returning scorer for Indiana this season after recording three goals and an assist last year.

Purdue, coached by Baylor graduate Rob Klatte, enters the week with a record of 1-1 after cruising past Western Kentucky, 4-1, before falling at the hands of San Diego State, 4-0, in its final game on the weekend. The Boilermakers, picked to finish third in the Big Ten Conference, are led by red-shirt freshman Sylvia Forbes who has posted one goal, one assist and 12 shots so far this season.

The weekend marks the first meeting between the Bears and Indiana and Purdue in school history. Baylor is 1-5-1 all-time against Big Ten opponents after tying Minnesota and falling to Northwestern last season.
