NEW YORK - Former Baylor tennis star Benjamin Becker advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open when he posted an upset victory over 36th-ranked and 30th-seeded Sebastien Grosjean (FRA) at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

With the win, Becker will now take on Andre Agassi (USA) who advanced by defeating 8th-seeded Marco Baghdatis (CYP). Agassi is appearing in his last professional tournament before retiring.

Becker, ranked No. 112 and representing his native Germany, drilled 12 aces and committed only 22 unforced errors in his straight-sets win over Grosjean. Grosjean, on the other hand, registered only six aces and tallied 37 unforced errors in the match that lasted only two hours. The first set between the duo, which lasted 57 minutes, took longer thank the next two sets combined. Becker prevailed 7-6 in the opening stanza when he won the tiebreaker 7-3. It took Becker only 26 minutes to win the second set 6-1 and he handily secured the victory with a 6-2 third-set win that took only 31 minutes.
