Becker Begins Play in U.S. Open

NEW YORK - En route to his 100th pro victory, former Baylor tennis star Benjamin Becker qualified for his second straight Grand Slam event to earn a spot in the U.S. Open. To advance to the main draw, Becker defeated former NCAA singles champion and Illinois standout Amer Delic, 6-3, 6-4. Prior to defeating Delic, Becker posted a qualifying round win over Radim Zitko of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-3.

Becker will open play in the U.S. Open today taking on Italian Filippo Volandri, ranked No. 53, in first round action at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows at noon (Central).

Becker, currently No. 112 on the ATP computer, also qualified at Wimbledon in July and reached the final round of qualifying a month earlier at the French Open. Becker's career pro record now stands at 100-32 since playing his first match as a pro in August 2005.
