WACO, Texas - Head women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey was recently presented with a pair of Lucchese western boots by Cavender's Boot City to commemorate the Lady Bears' 2005 national championship.
The boots, designed by Cavender's Vice President Mike Cavender, were hand-crafted and made especially by Lucchese to present to the winners of the 2005 NCAA title. Rae Moore of Lucchese Boots and Ron Whitten, district manager of Cavender's Boot City, were on hand to make the presentation to Mulkey.
Made of green leather, the boots feature gold leather insets on both the toe and the heel with decorative stitching separating both. A stitched basketball with "2005" in the middle adorns the front shaft of the boot and encircling the basketball are the words "Kim Mulkey-Robertson 2005 National Championship." The back of each boot features a large bear paw while an interlocking BU, stitched in gold, adorns the left side of each as well. Also, a large No. 1 is stitched on each outside pull tab.
"These boots are absolutely stunning," commented Mulkey. "What a special way to commemorate such a special occasion for us. We truly thank Cavender's Boot City and Lucchese boots for their generous donation and support of Baylor Athletics."
