WACO, Texas - Baylor track and field received at-large berths for two individuals and three relay teams, bringing its total to nine individuals and four relays to compete at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships June 7-10 at Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
Senior Wil Fitts (DeSoto, Texas) received a berth in the 800 meters with the 16th-best time in the nation this year, while senior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) received an at-large bid in the 110-meter hurdles, having the 16th-best time in the nation as well.
The men's 4x100-meter relay was essentially a lock to receive an at-large bid with the seventh-fastest time in the nation, while the women's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays were also virtually assured of receiving at-large berths.
The top five finishers in each event and top three in each relay at each of last weekend's four regionals automatically qualified for the championships. Those individuals and teams finishing in the six through 12 spots were eligible for at-large consideration.
