AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's sprint medley relay of senior Angel Perkins (Cerritos, Calif.), sophomore Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas), junior Kandace Tucker (Irving, Texas) and sophomore Lauren Hagans (Little Rock, Ark.) broke the school record by nearly four seconds with a time of 3:46.29 to capture the title Friday at the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Baylor senior Chris Gillis (Pennsauken, N.J.) posted the Bears best long jump of the season and fell an inch short of his career best with a mark of 7.78 meters (25-6 ¼) to finish second, while freshman Queito Teasley (Katy, Texas) finished third with a jump of 7.62 meters (25-0).
The men's sprint medley relay finished fourth, but results were unavailable.
Sophomore Brittany Devereaux (Denton, Texas) finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 49.74 meters (163-2). While the mark was a regional qualifying mark, it does not improve her season best of 50.93 meters (167-1).
The women's 4x400-meter relay of freshman Katrina Taylor (Baton Rouge, La.), Grace, Tucker and Perkins qualified fifth for tomorrow's final with a season-best regional qualifying time of 3:32.66. The 4x100-meter relay of senior Marquisha Sefas (Ft. Worth, Texas), Tucker, Perkins and Grace clocked a season-best regional qualifying time of 44.60 to qualify seventh for the final.
Senior Jerome Miller (Houston, Texas) qualified for his second Saturday final with a time of 14.08 in the 110-meter hurdles, which put him eighth. Miller will also run in the 400-meter hurdle final.
The meet concludes Saturday with the Bears again competing in eight events.
