The Baylor football team put the final touches on its preparations for Saturday's Green & Gold spring game with a 90-minute workout in helmets and shorts Thursday on the Floyd Casey Stadium grass practice fields. The Bears practiced in the morning due to Baylor's 72nd annual day-long Diadeloso celebration.

"It has been a good spring and we hope to put on a good show Saturday," Baylor coach Guy Morriss said. "They are still pretty tired, but by Saturday they'll be ready to get after it."

Morriss and his staff are again hosting the program's annual alumni weekend around Saturday's spring game. In addition to Friday's golf tournament and fish fry, Saturday morning all football alums will join the 2006 Bears for a pre-game breakfast at Floyd Casey Stadium. During the breakfast, past and current Bears will address the group.

"This is one of my favorite weekends," Morriss said. "I believe it is great opportunity for our current players to develop an appreciation for the tradition at Baylor and hear from some of the men who played here in the past. We'll also have a couple of guys on this year's team talk to the alums about the program. It is really a special morning."

The first quarter of Saturday's 1 p.m. Green & Gold Spring Game will feature the annual alumni flag football game. The 2006 Bears will then take over for the final three periods in a straight scrimmage format with a running clock. Admission to the spring game is free.

"We want them to have fun, but we are still in an evaluation mode," Morriss said. "We've got some jobs still up for grabs, so this gives everyone one last opportunity to make an impression with the coaching staff."

Prior to Saturday's Green & Gold Game, the Matthew Dove Letterwinners' Plaza, located on the east side of Floyd Casey Stadium, will be formally dedicated in a 12:30 p.m. ceremony. Admission to the Green & Gold Game is free and at halftime, two fans will have the chance to win a 2006 Dodge quad cab truck and $10,000 courtesy of RED jAK. One-thousand coupons redeemable for a free item from the concession stands will be handed out as people enter the game.

In addition to the spring football game, the Baylor softball team will host Kansas in a two-game weekend series beginning Saturday at 4 p.m. and concluding Sunday at Noon. As part of the Saturday festivities, it will be Military Appreciation Day at Getterman Stadium, where service men and women will receive half price general admission tickets with a Military ID.

The Baylor baseball team hosts another Big 12 Conference series this weekend against Oklahoma State beginning Friday at 7 p.m. The series continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Sunday is Little League Day at Baylor Ballpark and all kids in uniform will receive free admission to the game.

Prior to Saturday's game, the debut of Baylor Ballpark Bash will take place from 3-6 p.m. in front of Baylor Ballpark. The event will feature inflatable games, music, a mini home run derby, autographs and more. Appearances by the Baylor Spirit Squad and a special appearance by Bruiser will take place during the 3 hour fan fest as well. All activities at Baylor Ballpark Bash are free of charge.
