Baylor hosts the Baylor Dr Pepper Invitational to open the outdoor portion of its 2006 season Saturday, March 25 at the Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex in Waco, Texas. The meet is one of three home meets for the Bears this season, with the Michael Johnson Classic on April 22 and the 2006 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 12-14.

Indoor Recap
Freshman Jacob Norman captured the Big 12 and NCAA championships in the 60 meters, while senior Jerome Miller finished second at the NCAA championships in the 60-meter hurdles to earn All-America honors. The women's distance medley relay also earned All-America honors by finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships. Freshman Erin Bedell claimed the Big 12 Conference title in the 3,000 meters, while the women's 4x400-meter relay also captured the conference crown. Junior Reggie Witherspoon won both the 200 and 400 meter Big 12 titles and ran leadoff on the Bears' champion 4x400-meter relay. Witherspoon earned the High Point Performer honor at the Big 12 meet, then was named the Big 12 Conference Indoor Male Track Athlete of the Year. Junior Kevin Mutai his first Big 12 title by winning the 600 yards. The men finished third in the conference and eighth at the NCAA Championships, while the women tied for fourth in the Big 12 and tied for 45th nationally.
Outdoor Outlook
The Bears look to continue their success from the indoor season during the outdoor campaign. Freshman Jacob Norman will look to match his success in the 60 meters in the 100 and 200 meters outdoors, while junior Reggie Witherspoon will compete in the 200 and 400 meters outdoors. The Bears' freshman 400-meter duo of Quentin Iglehart-Summers and R.J. Anderson also look to improve as they get more races under thier belts. Senior Jerome Miller will lead the Bears' hurdle corps, competing at both 110 and 400 meters. On the women's side, the Bears have depth in the 200 meters with junior Kandace Tucker and Carla Grace and have a solid 400 performer in senior Angel Perkins. Baylor improves outdoor with the addition of the 3,000 steeplechase, where junior Monique Ortega and sophomore Lyndsy Bedell each earned all-conference honors last year. Freshman Erin Bedell could compete in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters outdoors and will look to be fresh for the conference championships after competing at the World Cross Country Championships.

The Bears will compete at the Stanford Invitational Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1 in Palo Alto, Calif.
