After an 11-day break for the university's annual spring vacation period, the Baylor football team returned to practice Tuesday afternoon with a two hour workout on the grass practice fields at Floyd Casey Stadium. The Bears drilled in helmets and shoulder pads for the first time since March 9.

"It was a good practice, the kids wanted to keep going," fourth-year Baylor head coach Guy Morriss said. "I think they are enjoying this. I don't know if something is wrong or if they are really liking it, but it was good work.

"I think offensively we got better, I know we got better up front with our technical stuff," he added. "Those big guys are learning. I was pretty pleased with today's effort. We put in some new things today before we came out and they picked that up pretty good."

Sophomore wide receiver Carl Sims saw his first action of the spring Tuesday after missing the Bears' first three workouts while finishing out Baylor's men's basketball season.

Baylor returns to the practice field for an afternoon session Wednesday, March 22, before taking Thursday off and concluding the week with workouts on Friday and Saturday. The Bears end spring ball April 8 with the annual Green & Gold Game at 1 p.m. in Floyd Casey Stadium.

All practices are open to the public.
