WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 11 women's tennis team will return to action tomorrow in Columbia, Mo., to face the Tigers are 1 p.m. The Bears have a 10-2 overall record this spring which included an undefeated 3-0 mark against conference teams. Baylor is coming off of a 4-0 run last weekend, with two wins coming over Big 12 teams Nebraska and Oklahoma State.
This week Baylor boasts three ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team. The Fila/Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the most current rankings on Thursday. Baylor jumped from No. 16 to No. 11 after its four wins last week, two coming against other ranked programs. For individual rankings, sophomore Zuzana Zemenova sits at No. 13 while junior Zuzana Cerna is right behind her at No. 14. Senior Daniela Covello also cracked the nation's-best list at No. 94. For doubles, Baylor's Cerna and partner Klara Zrustova reappeared in the polls at No. 24.
The rankings have been released weekly since January but this week the ITA administered the first computer rankings in an entirely different method than the previous ranking. Players ranked in previous polls were based on committee voting.
For Missouri, neither the team nor any individuals in singles or doubles appeared in ITA's polls. The Tigers' overall record is 5-4 this spring, which includes a 3-0 mark against conference teams.
