NEW YORK CITY - Senior Angel Perkins (Cerritos, Calif.) finished fourth in the 200 meters, just missing an NCAA provisional time of 24.01 in the 200 meters, then anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a third-place finish at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Saturday at the historic Armory Track Center.
Perkins teamed with freshman Katrina Taylor (Long Beach, Calif.), junior Kandace Tucker (Irving, Texas) and sophomore Carla Grace (San Antonio, Texas) to record an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:39.01.
Junior Brittany Brockman (Houston, Texas) ran a time of 16:48.80, just off the NCAA provisional time, to finish eighth in the 5,000 meters. Junior Monique Ortega (El Paso, Texas) finished eighth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:47.12. Junior Ruth Waller (Manchester, England) finished ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.13.
Freshman Stasia Kelly-Taylor (Atlanta, Ga.) finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.94 meters.
At the Houston Indoor Invitational, sophomore Brittany Devereaux (Denton, Texas) finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 16.93 meters.
The Bears return to action Feb. 11 at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
