Recap | Box Score | Notes
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew:
"Our guys matched up well with Iowa State inside...both are kind of young... [Mamadou] did a great job posting and Aaron did a good job feeding him."
On Balance:
"Out-rebounding, number one, 30 free throws, number two... it was a great game to coach... a lot of solid performances."
Baylor Sophomore Aaron Bruce:
On playing in front of former Baylor players:
"It was important to show them that Baylor basketball is still here and still a force in the Big 12."
On being elected to the All-Centennial team:
"I can't describe how it feels to be out there with Micheal Williams and Terry Teagle, two guys I used to watch on TV. I can't describe it any other way than an amazing honor."
Baylor Freshman Kevin Rogers:
"It was a special day all around. We had something to prove today with so much tradition... we had to show that we belonged... It was a statement game. We had to show the league we're still here and we can still play."
On dunking:
"I've been missing a couple, so I had to get back on track. My teammates expect me to finish... and I expect to finish, so I went out there and got it."
Iowa State Head Coach Wayne Morgan:
"The Baylor team and coaching staff did a terrific job today and beat us. They were clearly the better team today. That has happened to us in several different games this season where a team has gotten away from us in points and it just goes to show our team isn't where it needs to be defensively."
On Baylor's Offense:
"Baylor had good balance (offensively). They had four guys in the double digits. (Aaron Bruce) made some shots off the wrong leg running past the basket but he still made them."
On Strategy:
"I was trying to do different things to et us back in the game and we cut their lead down to eight points at one time but then we just ran out of gas. Today they were the better team and the credit goes to them and their coaching staff."
