FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Baylor junior Kandace Tucker (Irving, Texas) tied the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.53, lowering her NCAA provisional qualifying time, to finish fourth at the Tyson Invitational Saturday at Randal Tyson Track Center.
Tucker tied the record set by Elizabeth Wilson at the 2005 Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lincoln, Neb. Tucker also ran 7.59 to finish sixth in the 60 meters.
Junior Reggie Witherspoon (Marietta, Ga.) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.06 to finish third in the 200 meters, while freshman Jacob Norman (Temple, Texas) ran 21.62 to finish 10th. Senior Wil Fitts (DeSoto, Texas) finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.68, just off his season-best of 1:50.95 last week at the Armory in New York City.
Freshman Erin Bedell (Plano, Texas) ran 9:41.14 to finish ninth in the championship flight of the 3,000 meters while sister Lyndsy Bedell (Plano, Texas) ran 9:49.53 to finish fifth in the university division.
Junior Cody Wells (Crawford, Texas) finished seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:29.92. Junior Chris Cardwell (Abilene, Texas) had a mark of 16.31 (53-6 ¼) to finish 10th and break his own school record in the weight throw.
Freshman Kaleigh Teel (Friendswood, Texas) and sophomore Brinn Newman (Salado, Texas) both had a mark of 3.37 meters (11-0 ¾) to break the school record in the pole vault.
Baylor volunteer coaches Jeremy Wariner and Darold Williamson, along with Kerron Clement and Wallace Spearmon broke the world record in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:01.96.
The Bears return to action Feb. 24-25 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships at Devaney in Lincoln, Neb.
