Well, I guess a good sign that spring semester is in full swing, and that conference is underway could be how long it takes me to put up a new journal entry! However, all excuses aside, I am very sorry for the delay.
We have had some significant ups and downs since the last check in. There was of course the Texas Tech game, then the buzzer beating Oklahoma game, and lest we forget the media crazy, hyped up LSU game. But on the other end of the spectrum, there were two Oklahoma State contests, the Kansas beating, and the Nebraska revenge. We have been playing very well, with the exception of the LSU game, and the team moral is higher than ever. It's that time of the year when everyone's patience is running low and things become very monotonous in terms of our daily schedules. But, our team is managing to cope with all the stresses a season has to offer and doing it with smiles on our faces.
One way we get to take our mind off the business portion of college basketball is hanging out together, and now that the boy's season is underway we try to make as many games as we can in order to support them. Their first Big 12 win this season was as fun for us as it was for them. I'm sure a lot of you saw the news report that night with Jessica Morrow front and center in the middle of the court, celebrating the victory. Earlier this week, we attended and witnessed their second win, where again, we were found center court. Thought they would appreciate that.
The Nebraska game was a much unexpected relief in that we got to rest a lot of people and everyone got a chance to play and contribute. We had six people in double figures and that doesn't just happen every day. I think the crowd was wonderful and the momentum of the game was special. The confidence and energy was exactly what we needed and hopefully will run over into our next game.
So with Nebraska behind us now we are putting our focus on Oklahoma yet again and the focus is unbelievable due to the obvious circumstances of the last matchup. After watching film, we got up and down the floor and ran through some fundamental things we need for this weekend. A lot of work goes into our film sessions and breakdown tapes and scouting reports, in order to prepare for games, and especially at this point in the season. The intensity and focus of conference games have to be more strategic because you know them as well as they know you. It comes down to execution and conditioning in my opinion. Two things that, I think, we are capable and are aware of. The OU game is going to be very well played; the coaches have done a great job of preparing us.
I think we hit the road Saturday morning so we will be in town Friday night and some us are planning on catching some of the baseball and softball games. We just like to support Baylor athletics in general, any reason to hang out and have some fun I suppose. We hope that you guys don't go through withdrawals waiting all the way until Sunday to see us play again, so I would recommend checking out the baseball and softball games, or the men's basketball team on Saturday, but don't be late for tip-off on Sunday, its going to be a good one. If you can't be there in person, you can catch it live on your local Fox Sports Net (FSN) at 2:30 p.m. (CST). Until we meet again.
