Recap | Box Score | Notes
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew:
"I know from a coaching standpoint, like proud parents, it's great to see the little growth during the season. It was great to see the little things work tonight. Your first close game like this is always tough, to do it with such young players is great."
"You look at all the factors, the losing streak dating back to last season, and the lack of confidence, it's easy to see why everybody picked us to finish last. "
Baylor Guard Henry Dugat:
"I tried to step up tonight. I appreciate the team getting me involved and getting me shots. The win feels great. We want to feel like this more, and this is just the beginning."
Baylor Center Tommy Swanson:
"It was great to get this first win and get over the hump. The crowd support was great and it helped push us in the end. We were tired, but they kept us in the game. It was great to get over this first obstacle, now we can move on to the next."
Coach Jim Wooldridge:
On what he said to his players:
"I didn't say much. I know they are really disappointed. They had numerous chances to win in the game. You've just got to make the play...whether it's a rebound, a defensive play, a field goal, you've got to make it...There's no magic wand, you've just got to make it."
On the game:
"I knew the game would see-saw because they shoot the ball well, or they did well last week. We needed to rebound the ball well, make second chance points...those two things, and we didn't. We had a lot of open looks and we didn't make it."
On Dugat:
"He's a good player. He had some second chance opportunities. He's a good little player. He got the offense going in the first half."
On the final play of the game:
"(We wanted to get it to) Cartier or Lance, Lance was wide open in the lane and that was too bad...He was wide open."
On the game:
"I don't know. We just have ourselves to blame...We're not a good road team and we haven't been a good road team. Sooner or later you have got to break through...This team is really behind the eight ball."
