WACO, Texas - Freshman Whitney Jones (West Monroe, La./West Monroe HS) has decided to leave the Lady Bear basketball program Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey announced today.

Jones, a 5-5 guard, was recently sidelined with a stress fracture and was slated to be out of action for at least four weeks and had missed Baylor's last two games. Prior to the injury, Jones had appeared in eight games, which included one start (UCF), and averaged 10.1 minutes a game. On the season she had scored nine points and tallied three assists, three steals and 18 rebounds. She averaged 1.1 points and 2.3 rebounds a contest. Jones' best scoring outing came against North Texas with six points, she recorded a season-best seven rebounds and 23 minutes of action versus Central Florida.

"I am sorry to see Whitney go but she indicated that she is really homesick and wanted to return to Louisiana to be close to her family," said Mulkey. "We certainly respect her decision and will miss her here at Baylor."
