BAYLOR VS. UCLA
Ninth ranked Baylor, 10-1 on the season, makes its second and final non-conference road trip of the regular season as it travels to southern California to take on the UCLA Bruins. The Lady Bears are making their third trip to historic Pauley Pavilion (12,819) and the first since the basketball floor was dedicated "Nell and John Wooden Court." On Dec. 20, 2003, the court was named in honor of the legendary Bruin men's coach and his wife Nell.

UCLA, 6-5 on the season, will be playing at home for the first time in almost a month when it takes on the Lady Bears. This will be just UCLA's third home contest of the season and the first since they hosted Oklahoma on Nov. 21.

FIRST TELEVISION APPEARANCE OF SEASON
The Lady Bears will make their first television appearance of the season as they travel to southern California to take on the UCLA Bruins on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. (Central). The game, broadcast live on FOX Sports Network (FSN), will be seen by the following FSN regions: Arizona, Bay Area, Florida, Midwest, New England, New York, North (Wisconsin), Northwest, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain, South, Southwest, Prime Ticket and Comcast Philadelphia.

Jim Watson will call the action while Mary Murphy will provide color analysis.

The Baylor Lady Bears are coming off a tough stretch, 10 games in a 24-day span, which included three top 25 teams, to begin the season.

Despite the exhausting schedule, the Lady Bears have managed to post a 10-1 record which includes wins over then-ninth-ranked LSU and then-No. 22 BYU and a championship of the Junkanoo Jam's Lucaya Division.

The Lady Bears are playing their most challenging non-conference schedule in program history. Baylor has played three teams ranked among the Associated Press' top 25 (No. 12 Purdue, No. 9 LSU, No. 22 BYU) and two others who are receiving votes (Hofstra, UCLA).

Just 11 games into the season, three players are averaging double-digit scoring.

Senior All-America candidate Bernice Mosby leads the way with 18.1 a game while freshman post Danielle Wilson manages 11.1 and junior point guard Angela Tisdale scores 10.5 points.

Mosby is averaging a team-leading 9.1 rebounds a game while sophomore post Rachel Allison is the squad's second-leading rebounder with 7.7 a contest and is followed by Wilson's 6.4. In addition, sophomore Jessica Morrow is just below the double-digit mark in scoring with 9.1 points a game.

TWO LADY BEARS RETURN TO HOME STATE
Two Lady Bears, Latara Darrett (Chino, Calif.) and Jessika Bradley (Sacramento, Calif.), are making their first trip back to their home state since donning the Baylor green and gold. The two freshmen have definitely make their presence felt on the Baylor squad, with Darrett averaging 21.6 minutes and 7.8 points a game while Bradley logs 14.7 minutes and 4.5 points an outing. In addition, Bradley has blocked 13 shots and Darrett is the team's best three-point shooter with 17 makes and a .378 (17-45) shooting percentage.

SCOUTING THE BRUINS
UCLA, 6-5 on the season, will be playing at home for the first time in almost a month when it takes on the Lady Bears. This will be just UCLA's third home contest of the season and the first since it hosted the Oklahoma Sooners on Nov. 21.

Head coach Kathy Olivier is in her 14th season at the Bruin helm. She owns a career record of 208-180 which includes six top-four Pac-10 finishes in the last nine years.

The Bruins have played two Big 12 teams this season, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. The Lady Raiders defeated UCLA 75-60 in the Hawaiian Air Rainbow Wahine Classic while the Sooners posted a 77-68 win in Pauley Pavilion.

UCLA is led in both scoring and rebounding by 6-4 junior forward Lindsey Pluimer's 16.8 points and 6.9 rebounds. Senior guard Noelle Quinn ranks second in scoring at 15.7 an outing and manages 6.0 boards a contest. Sophomore center Chinyere Ibekwe is second on the squad in rebounding at 6.5 a game.

SERIES RECORD
This will be the seventh meeting between the two schools. Baylor holds a 4-2 lead including victories in the past three games, all of which have come under Kim Mulkey's direction. The two squads met last season in Waco where the Lady Bears posted a 93-85 victory. In games played in Pauley Pavilion, Baylor is 1-2. The Lady Bears' lone win in Los Angeles came on Dec. 19, 2002, 89-77.

LAST MEETING
In Baylor's 93-85 win at Waco last season, Angela Tisdale and LaToya Wyatt turned in outstanding performances, both registering scoring career-highs. The tandem combined for 38 points, seven assists and five of Baylor's seven steals. Tisdale scored 23 points, hauled down five rebounds, dished out four assists and registered four steals. Wyatt tallied 15 points, three assists and a steal in a career-high 33 minutes of action.

BLOCKING BUNCH
If the Lady Bears continue their current pace blocking shots, they could break the record for blocks in a season that the 2002-03 squad set in 35 games with 204. At this point of the season in 2002-03 the Lady Bears had blocked 88 shots, while the current Baylor squad has blocked 94 so far. Freshman Danielle Wilson (37) and senior Bernice Mosby (16) have combined to account for 53 of this year's rejections while freshman Jessika Bradley has blocked 13.

In fact, Wilson could set a record for blocked shots by a Baylor freshman. She currently has 37 and former Lady Bear Sophia Young owns the top mark at 43 during her rookie season in 2002-03.

Wilson continues to dominate the Big 12 Conference statistics in blocked shots with 37. Her nearest competitor is Oklahoma's Courtney Paris with 23.
