Hello Baylor Fans,
I thought it would be good to get an insert from a different perspective. So, this week our starting outside safety Maurice Linguist is going to give you an "Inside the Huddle" from our defense's point of view. I hope to see a bunch of you up in Stillwater this weekend. Here is Maurice's outlook on the rest of the season:
We took a very tough loss last week at Texas Tech. It was very disappointing and embarrassing from a player's stand-point because I knew that was a game we were very capable of winning, but we did not show up to play. Although we did not get the result from the game we had hoped for, our goals haven't changed for the season.
We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity we still have as a team this weekend against Okie State. Our team took a tough blow seeing Shawn Bell go down with his injury, and it's hard for me to see my friend and our leader walking around on crutches. But we are rallying around Blake and I believe he played very strong against Tech. The more snaps and repetitions he gets, the better he will play and his confidence will only continue to grow.
I feel as if many fans believe our season may be over. The tunnel is dark right now, but there is still light at the end of it. The fact of the matter is that we have two games left on our schedule and we need two wins to get in a bowl game. e are nowhere near where I felt this team could have been at the beginning of the season, but all of our goals are still very obtainable and we are not giving up at all.
Are we disappointed with our record? Yes. But we don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves. Our focus is on getting this win at OSU. Period. Defensively, we know that we must play lights out, and create turnovers to give Blake and our offense more opportunities to make plays, and score touchdowns.
We are in a one game playoff, and in a must win situation. We are very confident, that if we handle our business this weekend, we will be bowling at the end of the season. We are practicing and preparing ourselves to beat Oklahoma State this weekend and we still have a lot of fight left in us. By no means at all are the 2006 Baylor Bears done.
