SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Ashlee Pistorius' goal in the third minute would be all No. 7 Texas A&M would need as the Aggies would go on to defeat the Baylor soccer team, 3-0, in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Championship. The loss concludes the Bears season as Baylor finishes with a record of 6-12-1 while Texas A&M improved to 14-4-1 on the year.

"We just came out a little tentative and Texas A&M was able to capitalize," head coach George Van Linder said. "I thought the team played much more under control the rest of the way after the quick goal; but, we were just unable to get anything going offensively."

Pistorius put the Aggies up just 126 seconds into the game as she took a pass from Paige Carmichael and put it into the goal from five yards out to give Texas A&M the lead. Laura Robinson was also credited with an assist on the goal as Baylor fell behind early, 1-0.

A strong counter-attack would lead to the Aggies second goal of the game as Carmichael found Linda Pierson streaking down the middle of the field. Pierson played the ball to Cynde Currie who was able to find the back of the net past the out-stretched arms of Baylor goalie Ashley Holder to give Texas A&M a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute.

Kat Krambeer put the final touches on the Texas A&M win as she scored an unassisted goal in the 85th minute as the Bears were unable to score the rest of the way.

Holder, a first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection this season, set a season high with 14 saves in the loss while Kristin Arnold made three saves in goal for Texas A&M to pick up the victory.

The top-seeded Aggies held a 23-6 edge in shots while holding a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Lauren Weathers and Pat Roscovius each recorded two shots to lead the way for Baylor as the loss marked the final match for Baylor seniors Missy McConnell and Anna Schuch.
