WACO, Texas - Baylor's equestrian team hosts the New Mexico State Aggies Sat., Oct. 7, at the Willis Family Equestrian Center for the Bears' second head-to-head show of the season. English and Western events will begin at 8:00 a.m. This is the first meeting between the two programs.
The Bears competed last Friday against riders from TCU. Baylor and TCU scrambled their riders to make two teams comprised of both Bears and Horned Frogs. In the four events, Baylor riders posted three of the high-point scores; Shelby White (Fences), Kelly Albury (Flat), and Lindsay Douglas (Horsemanship).
New Mexico State opens play this weekend against SMU's English team Friday before traveling down to take on the Bears. Last year the Aggies hosted the Varsity Equestrian National Championships where they placed sixth overall (fourth in English, fifth in Western). This 2006-07 season marks the third for the young program in Las Cruces, N.M.
On Saturday Reining and Flat will open the show at 8:00 a.m. followed by Equitation over Fences and Horsemanship. Reining takes place in the outdoor arena while Flat, Fences, Horsemanship show in the covered arena.
